Bloggers
Get it, like poggers, except... whatever.
TL;DR at the bottom.
So, Patreon. Why'd I decide to move away from it?
I've been seeing a number of 18+ Patreon pages go "under review" for not following their guidelines.
If you've seen the debauched things that I sometimes put in my videos, and are familiar with Patreon guidelines, then you'll know what I'm talking about.
Essentially, I didn't want to start relying on the support that could have built up to a decent amount, and then suddenly have it all taken away by our corporate masters.
I know there are ways to counter this, and I'm aware that some creators have been skirting the guidelines quite successfully, but honestly, I just don't want to bother. There are other options than Patreon, and when/if I actually have the time to work on this stuff semi-regularily, with a stable uploading schedule, then I'll look into it.
Beyond that, Patreon honestly caused way more stress than I thought it would. I only had a handful of supporters, sure, but I started feeling the pressure after getting my first. Couple that with the stress from my exams and personal life, it just boiled over.
My creative drive, if you can call it that, definitely suffered as a result. Full transparency, it's not like I didn't have time to make new videos, it's not like I was studying every waking second.
I had a decent upload schedule prior to the Patreon, because I didn't have that pressure to hugely improve the quality of my videos, due to the lack of monetary support.
It was incredible to me that anyone would even consider supporting my weird videos, but instead of motivating me, it created this enormous, self-made pressure to perform way beyond my abilities.
So, moving forward.
The next video is still a ways off. I did record a bunch, but ending up deleting all of it, partially for the above reasons, and also because it was way too dark. Figuratively and literally. I actually bought the Darkwood soundtrack and intended to use a track from it during the intro of the video. That should give you some idea. I had about 5 minutes of video and it was more depressing than tantalizing.
On the bright side, Seirne, another Skyrim smut creator, linked me some useful tools for recording. Expect better lighting and some neat facial animation stuff in future videos.
So anyway, I'll be starting from scratch. Eventually. I can't set a time frame right now. I'm gonna take it easy and ease myself back into it after I graduate at the end of June. I'll also make this blog more presentable as time goes on.
TL;DR: Patreon stressed me out during an already stressed time. Videos will continue eventually, but no ETA at the moment.
Hey first one! Im honored! Love your work! The entire thing from text to lighting to soundtrack and voice lines was amazing! Really looking forward to seeing more.
